THOROUGHBRED BREEDING

Our ambulatory stud vets have a wealth of experience and knowledge between them. They provide a comprehensive service for breeders, from conception through pregnancy to birth and beyond.

Bloods and CEM swabs taken from mares prior to covering are testing in our own HBLB approved laboratory ensuring prompt results. All our vets are fully conversant with the HBLB Codes of Practice and can advise you on the best course of action to prevent and control any diseases.

We offer infertility examinations for both mares and stallions. For mares this includes culture and cytology of swabs, uterine biopsy, hysteroscopy (examination of the internal lining of the uterus by videoscope) and laparoscopy (oviduct clearance using PGE Gel).

We can examine stallions for breeding purposes and can perform ultrasonography of their genital organs and collect and evaluate their semen to assess their fertility if required.

We also offer a fetal sex examination service whereby ultrasound examination of the pregnancy allows determination of fetal sex to a very high degree of accuracy.

Any sick foals or mares requiring intensive medical care will be admitted to our state-of-the-art, dedicated Intensive Care Unit at the Hospital where they will receive round-the-clock attention from our dedicated hospital staff and nursing team. On-site laboratory facilities are available to enable us to obtain results without delay from any tests taken and enable us to react promptly with regard to any treatment that may be necessary.
