Neonatal intensive care

We have a dedicated unit for foals requiring more assistance than can be provided out on the local stud farms, such as intravenous nutrition and oxygen therapy. We are also happy to receive foals requiring intensive care from referring practices.

Foals may be admitted for treatment of various problems including Neonatal Maladjustment Syndrome (“Dummy Foals”) as well as sepsis and Neonatal Isoerythrolysis (jaundiced foals), for which we have on-site facilities to wash and transfuse red blood cells from the dam. Our surgical team are on stand-by to treat problems such as ruptured bladders and orthopaedic infections (septic joints or growth plates) or angular and flexural limb deformities
