Main Hospital Building

The main hospital building is an asymmetric cross with four wings, two dedicated to administration, reception and laboratory, one for surgery and one for diagnostics.

Surgery Unit

The surgery unit contains two state-of-the-art theatres, one dedicated to orthopaedic surgery and the other used for soft tissue or abdominal surgery. They are located in a closed suite with filtered, conditioned air delivered under positive pressure. There are four padded anaesthetic induction and recovery stalls; one of them includes a specialised assisted recovery system for high risk orthopaedic patients. The induction stalls lead to an intervening prep area where horses are prepared for surgery, before being taken into theatre.

There is also a pre-anaesthetic room where horses are cleaned and pre-medicated before entering the induction stalls. The surgery suite is accessed by authorised personnel only through changing rooms.

The theatres are equipped with fully networked stations showing radiographs and images from other diagnostic modalities. For arthroscopic and laparoscopic procedures, a networked digital capture system is used to take and store images and videos during surgery.

The pharmacy is divided into three areas:

  • the main dispensary
  • the pharmacy store
  • the ambulatory store, which contains all the veterinary equipment required by vets to take out on calls

Administration

These two wings of the main hospital building are divided into:

  • Reception lobby
  • Main office
  • Referrals office
  • Accounts office
  • Meeting rooms
  • Imaging viewing rooms
  • Archives and storage

There is a large conference/board room upstairs and further space for future expansion.
