RCVS Practice Standards Scheme

We are delighted that NEH has achieved Tier 3 Equine Accredited Hospital status in the RCVS Practices Standards Scheme. This is the highest possible level of accreditation.

The programme is designed to promote and maintain the highest standards of facilities, veterinary care, hygiene, clinical governance and available skills at a particular veterinary practice.

Tier 3 Equine Accredited Hospital Status requires:

  • Nursing staff to be present on the premises round the clock and a veterinary surgeon available 24 hours a day to attend to in-patients if required, meaning continual nursing and veterinary care is available for in-patients.
  • A broad range of high quality diagnostic equipment.
  • Compliance with Health and Safety and legal requirements such as the Data Protection Act.
  • Inspections every four years and interim spot-checks from RCVS inspectors to ensure standards are being maintained and improved.

All vets are required to attend CPD (Continuing Professional Development) courses to ensure they are up-to-date with the latest techniques and treatments at home and abroad. In addition, our vets are encouraged to see practice abroad.
