Internal Medicine

DSC05027.jpg

Our internal medicine team investigates and manages conditions affecting the respiratory, cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, hepatic, renal, and endocrine systems. Supported by our on-site laboratory and advanced diagnostic imaging, we take a thorough and systematic approach to complex medical cases. Whether a horse is referred for a specific concern or presents with vague clinical signs, our Medicine Specialists work methodically to reach an accurate diagnosis and develop an effective treatment plan.

  • From chronic respiratory conditions and recurrent colic to weight loss, liver disease, eye problems, and suspected cardiac abnormalities, our adult medicine service covers the full breadth of equine internal medicine. Cases are managed by our Medicine Specialists, who combine detailed clinical examination with advanced diagnostics to build a clear clinical picture. We work closely with referring vets throughout, ensuring continuity of care from investigation through to long-term management. We also collaborate frequently with external specialists in Ophthalmology and Cardiology.

  • Our intensive care unit provides round-the-clock monitoring and treatment for critically ill horses. Staffed by experienced clinicians and nurses, the ICU is equipped to deliver intravenous fluid therapy, continuous monitoring, and emergency intervention as required. Whether managing severe colic or acute medical crises, our team is trained to respond quickly and calmly when it matters most.

  • Sick neonatal foals require highly specialised care, and our foal ICU is equipped and staffed to provide exactly that. From sepsis and failure of passive transfer to neonatal maladjustment syndrome, our team has extensive experience managing the unique challenges of foal medicine. Close monitoring, rapid diagnostics through our on-site laboratory, and round-the-clock nursing care give critically ill foals the best chance of a successful outcome.
