Equine vets in
Newmarket, Suffolk
With a team of over 20 equine veterinary surgeons, our ambulatory practice delivers a personal and professional service to owners, trainers, and breeders across every equine discipline.
Alongside our thoroughbred vets — who provide daily veterinary attention to many of the racing yards and breeding farms in and around Newmarket — we have dedicated teams for sport horses, leisure horses, endurance, sales, and international exports.
Sports & Leisure
Our sport and leisure team provides a high-quality, personalised veterinary service to the wider equine community — from high-level competition horses to much-loved horses, ponies, and donkeys. Whether it’s routine health care, lameness investigation, or a pre-purchase examination, we’re here to help.
Exports
Newmarket Equine Hospital has a dedicated shipping department specialising in pre-export examinations and testing. We organise testing schedules to comply with the import requirements of countries around the world, managing the paperwork and logistics involved in international horse transport.

Call our practice office on 01638 782000 or email office@neh.uk.com. Our team will arrange a visit at a time that works for you and your yard. You can also request to book an appointment using the form here.
We operate a no visit fee round for routine appointments such as vaccinations, rechecks and dentistry to a specified area on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Please check the map to see which day covers your area. Appointments for these rounds have to be booked by 2pm on the day before your round and we are unable to facilitate specific time requests. Please use the appointment form or contact the office to book in.

Please contact the office regarding new or repeat prescriptions for medications. There is a charge of £25.20 per prescription. As per RCVS guidelines, we are required to have examined the horse within the previous 6 months in order to issue a repeat prescription.
If your horse needs specialist hospital care, our practice vets work closely with the hospital team to ensure a seamless referral process with full continuity of care.
Beyond Newmarket
In addition to our Newmarket base, we can arrange visits further afield for specialist assessments and pre purchase exams. We work closely with our associated practices in both the Cotswolds and Chantilly. We also have a number of experienced veterinarians who can provide expert opinions for insurance claims and legal cases. Please contact the office and we would be happy to discuss your requirements.
Internships
NEH has a highly successful internship programme with an excellent track record of successfully preparing candidates for both residency positions and future work in equine practice across the world. NEH currently employs 6 interns on a rolling basis for a 24 month internship. The internship rotates on a weekly basis between services (surgery and orthopaedics, medicine and critical care, anaesthesia, diagnostic imaging, in-patient care, nights).
